Bacon Wraps, Big Brands and a Bit of Everything

Merritt & Fryers Trade Event 2026

Wednesday 14th October 2026 | Skipton

A Busy Wednesday at Merritt & Fryers

They say there's no such thing as a free lunch. Well, on Wednesday 14th October, we decided to challenge that theory. Bacon wraps, anyone?

We welcomed customers, suppliers and familiar faces to our Skipton branch for the Merritt & Fryers Trade Event 2026. It was an opportunity to see new products, speak directly to manufacturers, pick up some practical advice and enjoy a catch-up over a brew.

From decorating and power tools to plumbing, landscaping and bespoke joinery, there was plenty happening around the branch. And with everything getting underway at 7:30am, the free bacon wraps were certainly a welcome addition.

A Little Bit of Everything

If there's one thing we're known for at Merritt & Fryers, it's having a bit of everything. Our Trade Event was no exception.

We were joined by a wide range of suppliers, each bringing products, demonstrations and specialist knowledge to share with visitors.

Paints & Decorating

Dulux Trade, Bedec, Coo-Var, ProDec and Indasa represented the decorating side of the business, showcasing paints, coatings, abrasives and decorating tools for trade and DIY projects.

Tools, Plumbing & Building Products

Rothenberger brought along plumbing tools and equipment, while Buckbootz showcased its range of safety footwear.

Soudal, Luceco, Worcester Bosch and Keystone Lintels also joined us, covering adhesives, lighting, heating and building products.

Landscaping & Outdoor Living

Talasey and NewTechWood were also on hand, bringing landscaping and outdoor product displays to the event. There was plenty to explore for anyone planning garden improvements or outdoor projects.

Showing What We Can Do

Of course, we couldn't invite everyone along without showing off a little ourselves.

Our joinery team put together a display featuring bespoke doors, timber samples and examples of the work produced at our Skipton workshop.

It's a part of Merritt & Fryers that not everyone knows about. Alongside our timber yard and building supplies, we offer bespoke joinery, made-to-measure timber products and specialist machining services.

Visitors also had the opportunity to learn more about our newly refurbished Plumbing, Heating & Renewables department.

Explore Timber & Joinery

More Than Just Products

A trade event isn't just about what's on the shelves. It's also an opportunity to bring people together, share knowledge and support the industry we work in.

We were pleased to welcome Craven College, highlighting education and training opportunities, alongside Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity, which supports people working in construction and their families.

Both were valuable additions to the day and a reminder that the building trade is about much more than materials and tools.

And Then There Was the Food...

We couldn't write about the Trade Event without mentioning the bacon wraps.

With an early start and plenty to see around the branch, a bacon wrap and a hot brew were just what was needed to keep everyone going.

There was plenty of opportunity to grab a bite, catch up with familiar faces and have a good natter before heading back to explore the supplier stands.

Because let's face it, talking about building materials is always better with a bacon wrap in hand.

And if you came along just for the free breakfast? Don't worry, we won't tell anyone.

Thank You for Joining Us

Events like this remind us what Merritt & Fryers is all about. We supply building materials, timber, decorating products, plumbing supplies and plenty more, but it's the people and relationships behind the business that make the difference.

Thank you to all the suppliers who joined us, our team who helped make the day happen and everyone who came along to support the event.

If you missed it, we're still here on Firth Street in Skipton, ready to help with your next project.

The free bacon wraps, unfortunately, were a one-day-only affair.
